Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Drive Test

This year, the 392 Hemi has the same Wrangler-specific tune as when it debuted for 2021, cranking out 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The 392 makes 75 percent of its peak torque just off idle, providing the low-end grunt needed for climbing rocks and sloshing through water up to 34 inches deep.

The Hydro-Guide air intake prevents waterboarding the Hemi with a tri-level ducting system, routing up to 15 gallons per minute away from the internals. The 392 achieves just 13/16/15 mpg city/highway/combined and requires premium fuel; of course, no one ever claimed off-roading was cheap.
